This year we’ll see the 50th anniversary of the Victory Outreach community, and to celebrate, there will be a World Conference in Los Angeles, where it all began. After beginning as a simple church reaching out to a troubled inner-city, Victory Outreach has become a global phenomenon, reaching out to all walks of life and age groups. When Sonny Arguinzoni and the Church observe its 50th anniversary, the intention is to continue to reach out to its target audience in order to bring people together even more, and to celebrate its foundation and longevity.
Beginning the Celebration
From Monday, July 10 through Saturday, July 15, the Los Angeles Convention Center will be the location of celebrations from over 30 countries, featuring around 700 ministries and churches associated with the Victory Outreach program. In addition to celebrating the history and future of the church, there will be specialty Spanish sessions, community-related activities for the youth ministry and young adults, and a celebration banquet on the final night, including a three course meal and the premiere of the feature film Sonny, concerning the life and ministry of Victory Outreach and its founder.
Finding Success
The reason for the celebration is to emphasize that Victory Outreach has changed lives for thousands of people, not just in Los Angeles, but across the globe. Where other churches and ministries have given up on the desperate and dispossessed, Sonny seeks to reach out to the very poorest in the community, to save them from lives of drug abuse and gang association, and to teach them to give themselves to God. That the church has been organizing these events for 50 years shows how hard Sonny and his wife have worked in order to reach out to those in difficult circumstances.
Celebrating as a Community
Of course, one of the reasons for the success of Victory Outreach is its community spirit, and Sonny Arguinzoni and his church will celebrate its 50th anniversary surrounded by friends and members of the church.
